Can I edit product images on Shopify without using a third-party app?

Does anyone know if it is possible to edit product images on Shopify without using a third-party app (All-In-One Image Master for example)? I've invested quite a bit into my store already and I'd like to know what the default options are on Shopify before committing to an app. If the default editing options are quite limited then I guess I'll have to go with purchasing a Shopify app. Anyone else in the same boat?
