My Facebook ads keep getting rejected
Asked 4 years ago
My Facebook ads keep getting rejected for the promotion of tobacco products, however, I have never promoted anything related to tobacco or smoking. Why does this keep happening and how do I fix it?

There are a number of reasons why an Ad can get rejected on Facebook. There is a strict guideline of rules and laws concerning ads one can post on social media pages. However, if you are facing a problem that your ad is being blocked for a reason that is not relevant, you should consider it again.
One problem that people face with putting up Ads on Facebook is the problem of context. Sometimes, if an ad mentions anything drug-related (for eg: pharmaceuticals), it automatically considers the ad to be of a negative nature and rejects it. Or, if there is a hint that the ad is of multi-tiered marketing it is most likely to get rejected.
Facebook does give its users the option to appeal for the ad. If the original content/nature of the ad can be mentioned, it is allowed to be on the platform again.

Not being able to run your Facebook ads can only be caused by a policy violation. Your Facebook advertisement (text or image) or the product itself may be related to tobacco or smoking in a way that you don't know, but Facebook does. Read the Advertisement Policies thoroughly and recheck your marketing campaign to rectify the error.

Facebook has a long list of guidelines that every ad must adhere to otherwise it will not be approved. This means that the process of getting your ad approved can be tricky. During the review process of your ad, Facebook will check the content of the ad as well as the landing page. Check your landing page to see if the content does not match up, or if there is anything there that does not comply with their policies.
If you still are unsure why it is getting rejected, then you should appeal their decision. You can fill out their appeal form online (or under 'Account Quality' on Facebook) or if you cannot find that, submit the ad again and appeal the decision from there. Keep in mind, however, that if your ad has been disapproved a certain number of times your account may be temporarily disabled so try to appeal without resubmitting.
