Should I ship only domestically, or also internationally?
Asked 5 years ago
I'm located in the US and I opened my Shopify store recently. I'm not sure if I should ship internationally already or focus just on the domestic market until my business is established.

Yes, in most cases, it's probably easier to start locally. International shipping is definitely not impossible. It's just another aspect of your business that will take time and money to master. Our business is solid, and we've just lately started to ship to Canada and Mexico. We're not planning to add new countries for a while now, coz of the overhead. If you sell food, medicine, liquids, etc. international shipping gets even more complicated. So, if your local market is big enough, and your business doesn't depend on international sales, just start locally. If you do decide to sell internationally, and ship by yourself, then you should: 1. Check the customs rules and regulations for each country. Your policy should mention that your customers may or may not get customs and duty fees, and that is their responsibility, not yours. 2. You'll have to select shipping providers, USPS/UPS/DHL/FedEx. Each provider offers a different price, tracking capabilities, reliability, getting your parcels through customs, etc. Shipping can get tricky and expensive (you can find a few posts about the subject here in the forum). 3. Your customers may have to pay import taxes, and if they don't, your packages can get returned. 4. Check out shipping apps on Shopify (i.e., Pirate Ship, ShipStation, Shipit, etc.). Another option, if you start selling internationally, is to use fulfillment by amazon or fulfillment centers at your destination countries (you can use Amazon FBA as a fulfillment center even if you don't sell on Amazon). The downside is that you'll have to manage inventories there, and it's difficult and costly when you're starting out, but It can reduce the workload.

I recently opened my own mini cafe, where I often prepare and various kebabs, barbecues and the like. You know, it was a very good choice on my part, but it was very difficult to order all the equipment. And if you need good barbecues, which work at heavy loads, then I would recommend that you go to this site https://mcdonaldpaper.com/atosa-cookrite-atmg-36-36-inch-heavy-duty-manual-griddle/ . It is here that you can order it, the maximum is easy.
