Can discounts devalue my brand on Shopify?

Has anyone here had a negative experience when it comes to discounts and branding? I sell footwear on Shopify and don't want to give off the perception that the products are cheap as they really aren't. I only buy quality products from good suppliers so I don't want to devalue my brand.
