What is the best app for promoting a discount on the second item purchased?

I would like to try and increase the average order value of my store by getting clients to buy more than one product at a time. I thought that it would be best for me to offer a discount on the second item purchased.
I have already created the discount in Shopify, but now I am looking for a way to promote the discount on the product detail page and in the cart so that customers can be notified about the discount.
I have already tested a few 'notification bar' and cart upselling apps, but none of them seems to have the functionality to customize messages in order to incentivize the discount on the second item purchased.
