Whether you're a seasoned Shopify store owner or an e-commerce start up, you'll want to be able to see stock quantity in your Shopify store. To help you out, here we detail an easy-to-follow guide on Shopify show stock level.

What Is Stock Quantity in Shopify?

Shopify's stock quantity field is used to indicate the number of items that are currently in stock for a given product. This figure can be helpful for merchants who want to keep track of how much stock they have on hand and plan their purchasing accordingly.

How Do I See Stock Quantity in Shopify?

By far the easiest method to check stock quantity in Shopify is through the platform’s built-in feature, inventory tracking. Shopify’s inventory tracking has a number of features that make monitoring stock quantity easy. The most notable of these is the feature that allows you to create product variants, so you can track different colors and sizes separately. You can also set up inventory levels for each variant, so you'll be alerted when stocks are running low.

To set up inventory tracking, simply follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to your store’s admin and head to the Products section.
  2. Now, select the product you’d like to track. If the product has any variants you’d also like to keep an eye on, select these as well.
  3. Next, in the Inventory section, check Track quantity.
  4. If you’d like to sell without stock, check the Continue selling when out of stock option.
  5. Then, from the Quantity section, be sure to enter the quantity information for each location.
  6. To finish, click Save.

Another helpful way to keep on top of inventory management is to hide out of stock products. This will make sure your customers aren’t buying any products that are currently unavailable, eliminating negative stock issues within your online store. Plus, you can do this easily with an app like Out-of-Stock Police. If you own a larger brand and have more than one online store, you may want to consider a Shopify multi-store inventory management app instead.
