Do I need an EIN to sell products on Shopify?

An Employer Identification Number (EIN) is used for tax identification. Hence, it is mandatory to have a federal Shopify EIN to sell on Shopify in two conditions:

1. If your venture is in U.S. or U.S. territories.
2. You own a valid Taxpayer Identification Number.

A Shopify LLC or sole proprietorship holder can use the Social Security Number for tax purposes.
