Starting a store on Shopify. Do I need to get an EIN (Employer Identification Number)? How does a sole proprietorship or LLC affect this outcome on Shopify?

An Employer Identification Number (EIN) is used for tax identification. Hence, it is mandatory to have a federal Shopify EIN to sell on Shopify in two conditions:
- If your venture is in U.S. or U.S. territories.
- You own a valid Taxpayer Identification Number.
A Shopify LLC or sole proprietorship holder can use the Social Security Number for tax purposes.
