Enabling customers to personalise orders on the Shopify store

I'm a Shopify store owner and I would like to give my customers the option of personalising certain items when they order them. How can I do this?

On Shopify, there are two main ways you can let customers personalise the items they order:
- You can add a comment section at the checkout screen, where customers can specify if and how they would like to personalise an item. When you receive the order, the comment will appear in the purchase info.
- You can use Shopify apps such as HulkApps, which has a free version of product options that would enable you to give customers the option to personalize the items they want to order.
