How to enable third-party carrier-calculated shipping rates for Shopify store?

Asked 4 years ago

How do I get the third-party carrier-calculated shipping rates enabled for my Shopify store? I am based in the US, which shipping carriers can I use for 3rd party calculated shipping rates and real-time carrier shipping? Also, I want to know if shipping and taxes will be calculated at checkout or before.

If you have an annual billing plan you just need to ask shopify to add carrier services to your store. To upgrade to an annual plan - from your Shopify admin go to Settings > Plan and permissions > Upgrade plan. Then you could use apps or API for real time carrier-calculated shipping rates.

The third-party carrier-calculated shipping feature is included in the Shopify Advanced and Shopify Plus plans. It can also be added to any plan for a monthly fee of $20. Then you can display your own negotiated shipping rates from carriers to customers at checkout. If your store is eligible for Shopify Shipping, then you can get reduced rates from carriers that work with Shopify to be displayed to your customers at checkout.

Shopify Shipping is available for merchants shipping from the US, Canada, and Australia. Businesses based in the US can display rates from UPS, USPS and DHL. Businesses based in Canada can display rates from Canada Post. Merchants using Shopify Shipping can print the discounted shipping label from the Shopify admin.
