Is it possible that two Shopify stores have the same store name?

I want to know if it's possible for another store to open up that has the same name as my store and could potentially steal my customers.

When setting up your Shopify store, you fill in the 'store name' field. If another store has the same name, it will state that the name is unavailable. You can have variations of the same name, however, not the exact same.
Strong, recognisable branding can help you keep your customers and will stop any confusion.
