How to get first sales on our Shopify store?

Asked 4 years ago

We launched our store a few months ago but have no sales, what should we do? I have even seen some add-to-carts, but no sales on our Shopify store. How can we drive traffic to our store?

This is a very common question: "I opened a Shopify store, advertised it on Facebook, and no sales. What am I doing wrong? How can I get my first sale on Shopify?" Well, you have to work really hard for your store to stand out against millions of others. Do you know how many online vendors and stores are out there? You’re competing on the customers’ attention with them. So what can you do to stand out? First, understand that it’s hard work; otherwise, everybody would’ve done it. But’ don’t really look at it as if you’re competing with millions of stores. Break it down to a few simple steps. Find out who your customers are. Find the cheapest way to reach your customers. Define a USP - unique selling proposition. A message that resonates with your customers and drives them to action. Work on your stores’ funnel from the moment a customer enters until they checkout. Finally, work on cross-selling, up-selling, and retention. I didn’t mention the product itself. Some people would say it is the first thing you should worry about because that’s what you’re selling, and the product should define all the rest. Others would say that the product should come last because the biggest challenge is reaching your customers. In any case, your product has to be good, and your customers should be happy with it. You need to find what sets your store apart, what makes your store unique. It can be the products you’re selling, your marketing capabilities, your branding, or anything else that can give you a competitive edge. Work on quality and keep pushing. Unless you are one of the very few, it could take you 2 to 3 years to get a good living out of your business. Don’t believe what all the “experts” say. Maybe 1% get lucky, but the other 99% just have to work hard. A friend of mine sells sinks, bathtubs, and toilets. He’s making $50k a month. Sounds good, ah? He started in 2005. It took him 14 years.
