How many store owners make a profit on Shopify?

Shopify brands itself as an excellent platform for merchants to sell their products efficiently online. It sure looks like people are making a fortune and that more and more people are becoming Shopify merchants. But I have a feeling that the real numbers are very different than what we perceive. I think that most of the merchants actually lose money. Does anyone know the actual statistics behind the Shopify platform?

If you look at the statistics, you'd be surprised because not many merchants make a profit with Shopify, I tell you. Really. I have a good friend who works for a Shopify expert firm that's building online stores for entrepreneurs and brands. And you know what? Most of their clients fail! None of their new Shopify stores make any money! One thing is for sure, experts, developers, designers, online courses, and Shopify make money. I do know a few store owners that make money. Some of them even make a lot. The few things that they all have in common is that they built a brand, have unique products, or solve someone's problem. But, all the other people that just open a store to sell whatever product they find on AliExpress, or even celebrities that don't have anything special or unique to sell (besides their name), well, they lose money. Look for stats on how many Shopify store owners actually make it, and you'll see that I'm not making this up. I would say don't use Shopify unless you really know this space, or already have a successful business. And keep in mind that the design studios and the people who sell online courses make money even if you lose.

I never used Shopify even if I wanted to start; some of my friends recommended I stop before investing too much money I was going to lose. That's when I started searching for other platforms, and I found some salehoo reviews. It's something smaller, but it seems more legit and has better reviews. SaleHoo is an online verified drop shipping and wholesale suppliers network that provides research tools, supplier directories, and training. I started my journey with them, and I didn't understand much, but once I had my first results, I'll come back with an answer.
