What are the best payment options to offer customers on Shopify? I've done a bit of research and it would seem that offering 4 payment installments is the most popular option. Can anyone confirm this based on their experiences?

This is a great question, and I’m sure many Shopify merchants are wondering the same thing. The best payment options on Shopify depend on your target market, your products, and your preferences. However, here are some general tips to help you choose:
- Offering 4 payment installments — a form of BNPL (Buy Now Pay Later) is indeed a popular choice for purchasing high-ticket items or making impulse buys. It can lead to increased conversions and customer loyalty, while also reducing cart abandonment. However, it also comes with some fees and risks, so make sure you do your homework before signing up with a provider like Afterpay or Klarna.
- Accepting credit cards is a must for any online store, as they are widely used and trusted by consumers. Shopify Payments is a convenient and secure way to accept credit cards on your store, without any extra fees or third-party accounts.
- By offering alternative payment methods including PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Cryptocurrency, you can boost both sales and customer satisfaction. These choices are not only convenient and swift but more importantly secure. Plus, they appeal to a broad range of customers who are either not willing or unable to use traditional credit card methods. Be sure to access the Payment providers category in your Shopify settings to enable these attractive options for your clientele.
- When you provide payment options that are local to the area of your target market, it can help you boost customer acquisition and build trust. It is essential to target the right market with preferred modes of payment, considering the region's popular methods. For instance, iDEAL for customers in the Netherlands, Alipay for customers in China, or Boleto Bancário for customers in Brazil would be excellent choices.
I hope this helps you decide on the best payment options for your Shopify store. Remember, there is no one-size-fits-all solution, so experiment and test different options to see what works best for you and your customers. Good luck!
