Do I need to purchase an SSL certificate for my Shopify store website?

I originally thought that an SSL certificate would already be integrated into my Shopify store, but I can't seem to select that option. Should I purchase a new SSL certificate for my Shopify store from GoDaddy or Namecheap? Also, what is the cost of a Shopify SSL?

No, you definitely get a free SSL certificate by hosting your store on Shopify. Once you connect your custom domain, you will have access to an SSL certificate.

As soon as your Shopify store has a custom domain, it will automatically add an SSL certificate. It is possible the store is SSL pending as it can take 48 hours for the process to fully complete.﻿
If you have a Shopify SSL pending, do not buy another on Namecheap or GoDaddy as it should automatically appear.
