Receive USD and CAD Payments From Amazon, Shopify, and PayPal in Canadain Bank Accounts
Learn how Canadian vendors can receive USD and CAD payments from Amazon, Shopify, and PayPal directly to their Canadian-based bank accounts.

Like many Canadian vendors, we run & price our Shopify storefront in USD. Shopify doesn't have a problem debiting fees & crediting sales proceeds directly to our Canadian Based Bank - US Dollar Account (we run a separate Canadian $ .ca - Shopify account & website).
We have just signed us up for Sezzle, and were pleased to see how easy it was to link both CDN$ and US$ Canadian based bank accounts. Transfers will be done to either account, based on currency received, without a Foreign Exchange charge.
It's very frustrating, though, that after all these years, it's still impossible to do the same with US dollar-based Amazon Seller accounts or US dollar-based PayPal transactions. Last time that I tried both of them still required a US-based bank account and would not work with Canadian-based US dollar accounts.
Opening a US-based business bank account requires a legal entity (incorporation) in the US - with tax implications - and while you can open and use a US-based personal account as an individual (at least with TD), that means sales & expenses for the business are going through a consumer / non-business personal account, which I try to avoid.
