How do I add a channel for selling wholesale on my Shopify store?

I have a Shopify retail store and would like to start a wholesale section. What is the best way to do so? Do I need Shopify plus for a wholesale channel, and what is the best app you'd recommend for selling wholesale on Shopify?

The process to add the wholesale channel to your Shopify is simple. Here’s what you should do:
Open a separate store for wholesale.
Add password protection to your store.
Hire a developer or use an app to import the data from your retail shop to the wholesale store.
Make sure to sync your wholesale account with your retail shop.

There are two options to set up a wholesale channel on Shopify. First, you can do it with the help of a third party app, but it might cost a good amount of money. Another option can be using Shopify Plus, which is certainly easier and cost-effective. The separate wholesale channel can be password protected. You can either introduce completely different products at a wholesale price and discount or even sell the existing products from the main Shopify store.
