What stages to use digital fingerprinting on my app (online retail)?

Hey guys, I've got an app for my online clothing store and am thinking of setting up a digital fingerprint to help with security. I was just wondering for what stages should I implement it? I don't want the app to become too annoying with a digital fingerprint pop up too often but at the same time I want to take security on the app very seriously. Thanks.
