Is there any way I can change Shopify's "quantity" attribute to a "length" attribute?

By default, Shopify only allows whole numbers within the quantity attribute, and it accurately recalculates the price e.g. 1 meter of something costs 10USD and the customer adds 0,1 in the cart (within quantity), they will be charged 1 USD. Is there any way to achieve the same function with code?
